Bio: Julie Rotuno is a 2nd Generation CEO of her Families' Business, Mid-Atlantic Packaging Company. Mid-Atlantic Packaging has been a leading Retail Packaging Wholesale Company for 41 years. Julie's parents, Herb and Kim Glanden, founded the company in 1982 out of their home in Delaware. In 1984, Julie's uncle, Don Glanden, became the third owner. While growing up, Julie worked summers at her family's company and watched her parents and uncle work extremely hard to build their company and make it successful. Julie earned her bachelor's degree in education in 2006. She was a First Grade Teacher for a couple of years before pursuing her business career.
At the time, there were no openings at Mid-Atlantic Packaging, so Julie's father offered her the job of painting the office. Julie jumped on the opportunity and applied for a customer service and purchasing position once it became available in 2008. While being mentored by her mom, Julie took hold of any opportunity that came her way to learn more about the business. She became the Chief Operating Officer following her mom's retirement in 2020. Julie collaborated with her dad to help transform the company by building an in-house Production Team that does hot-stamping and post-printing at their facility. During the pandemic, Julie focused on building her team and sticking to the company's vision. In June 2022, her dad retired as CEO, and Julie was promoted to her new role as CEO of Mid-Atlantic Packaging.
Julie is excited to be a part of the transforming industry of Retail Packaging. She has always gotten excited about new packaging products and calls herself a "Packaging Nerd." She is very proud of her amazing, dedicated team. Some employees have been with the company for almost 40 years! They pride themselves in saying that "they helped raise Julie." Julie is determined to create more packaging nerds like herself in her own company, nationally and globally.
Mid-Atlantic Packaging could not have stayed in business over the years without its loyal customers, many of whom have been with them since the beginning. Mid-Atlantic Packaging prides itself on its top-notch customer service and specialized ability to walk customers through their packaging journey from beginning to end. I love being part of their business journey and supporting them through carrying out their brand and vision through their packaging," Julie said.
As a wife and mother of two daughters, Julie is proud to set an example by pursuing her dreams and helping to change the Retail Packaging world through innovation, increasing their digital footprint, and being confident in her leadership style. While the company continues to be a stocking wholesale provider, the business's branded custom side has grown exponentially over the past few years. Branding is everything! You want your customers to recognize your brand. Julie's goal is to continue to focus and build upon her vision in the coming years.
