The business sector is highly influenced by the latest advancements in the IT department. Brian Jackson, who is a research director at Info-Tech Research group says the digital transformation is far from over. Despite the various different challenges and obstacles faced by many businesses recently, Jackson believes that technology will help these companies compete in the digital economy.
“Even in more traditional industries, where people had just been happy to rely on more manual processes for a long time, everybody is realizing the value of what connected technology can offer them,” says Jackson. “The IT department, in many cases and in many companies, has increased the number of people they’re serving. They’re involved in delivering more aspects of the customer experience, and they’re supporting more aspects of the business model.”
1. Decentralized digital identities
Decentralized digital identities are here to disrupt the ethnic approaches of login and authentication for different services. Recently, GSMA, The Groupe Speciale Mobile Association showed us how this technology can be helpful for businesses by providing their users a unique way of identification via their mobile wallets and other applications based on blockchain.
“You can’t have gone through 2021 without looking at the huge amount of value that’s going into blockchain from a private equity standpoint, and all the new potential solutions that are coming up in the startup world,” explains Jackson. “We may be early in the hype around it, but I think there is something there that will prove to become the back end of how we do many things.”
2. Edge AI
Artificial intelligence is being used to bring devices to come life and it is benefitting the consumers at an unprecedented level. Jackson believes that as we move into the future, we are more relying on technology and that is why the industry is using that dependency to create something that makes the lives of business owners easier than ever. Till now with the IoT people were able to connect everything to live smarter. However, among all this, managing the data has been the biggest trick. To eliminate this issue edge computing helps you to process data closer and you can also benefit from scalability, security, and performance.
3. Wearable App Integration
The latest data from eMarketer suggest that over 20 percent of people will start using wearable technology in the latest year. This opens up a huge opportunity for business owners who have based their companies on technology. Jackson also believes that the companies that are yet to utilize the power of technology should start doing it soon.
“You have to think about how these trends impact your environment,” Jackson says. “What are your goals, and what are the implications — how are your people going to be affected? Will you need to hire new people? Will you need to reassign them to different capacities? Will you have to procure these technologies? They’re all going to play out in many different ways.”
